MaxEnt (maximum entropy) modelling software has often been accused of being a "black box". Used in ecology for species distribution modelling (SDM) the software has now been released as open source software.
This means that MaxEnt is no longer a black box and the source code can be downloaded from github here.
The software itself can be downloaded from the new hosting site. There is also an R package available. To ensure typos it is confusingly called Maxnet and you can download it here.
Exciting times indeed and here at burdGIS we'll be tinkering with the new version and posting again soon. In addition we're looking to update our training materials accordingly for the upcoming ArcGIS and MaxEnt course.
