Dashed lines not showing in ArcGIS

Sometimes ArcGIs doesn't render the way you would expect. I've had far fewer cases with Arc layouts than QGIS print composer but dashed lines behaving oddly has been bugging me. This video tutorial shows you a workaround if the dashed dashed lines are bugging you too.

I've noticed some odd behaviour in ArcGIS when it comes to rendering dashed lines (either lines or outlines or polygons). This is especially true when they are output to pdf or similar. The fix I've found is to use cartographic symbology. If you have any other ideas let me know in the comments! :)
