Endangered Shark Spotted in British Waters

Earlier today the Metro published a sensationalist story with the headline "Yes, a monster 400lbs killer shark has been caught in British waters." I thought I'd give this a bit of a rewrite as the shark in question was a Porbeagle shark.

As the Metro states:

"Porbeagle sharks, which are considered endangered as there are only a few hundred off the coast of Britain, look very similar to great white sharks.

They have not been known to attack humans and one senior fish curator called Oliver Crimmen at the Natural History Museum insists: ‘It is not a danger to us’.

They normally just eat mackerel."

Mark Nelson was the amateur fisherman who hooked the fish. He spent an hour and a half trying to reel it in. Fortunately his small boat would have sunk should he have hauled it on board. As such he took a photo with it alongside and then released it. This is good news for an endangered species. Fantastic that it's been spotted though. Let's hope the numbers are on the up.

Here's some more info on Porbealges:
